What does this Zia Symbol Mean?
 
This is a sacred symbol of the Zia People one of the 19 Pueblo Native American Tribes of New Mexico, USA.
 
The number four repressents the cycle and stages of life, the seasons and the phases of the day. Each of the four rays symbolize the four directions, each direction corresponds with an element of nature and virtue. Together these signify the Zia's connection to nature and regard for the natrual world and provide a sort of guide for personal and communal well being.

Blue Gem Mine of Battle Mountain located in Nevada no longer produces Turquoise since its first commercial claim in 1934. It was once one of two known mines in the United States where Turquoise was found as deep as 243.8 meters. A network of complext tunnels were constructed to mine the turquoise in Blue Gem Mountain shooting off in all directions. Just above the main tunnel spanned the Glory Hole nearly 30.5 meters long!
 
Today Blue Gem Turquoise is often found in surrounding Mines although still called Blue Gem, the older Battle Mountain variety known for its Strength and color production from every shade of green to blue. Turquoise from Battle Mountain is strong and will not change color, it does not to be stabilized and will surely become an heirloom piece as beautiful as the day it was purchased.
