Chickasaw pronounced as 'CHICK-uh-saw' means "they left as a tribe not a very great while ago." it is belived to be derived from the Choctaw phrase "chik’asha ashachi".

Navajo People refer to themselves as Diné wich means 'the people'. The description name 'Navajo' was first used by the Spanish settlers to describe a group of Apache who 'farmed fields in the valley' (nabajó)

Hopi means "behaving one, one who is mannered, civilized, peaceable, polite, who adheres to the Hopi Way."

Choctaw refers to a peoples but also the language of the people. It is not commonly known how the Choctaw name came about. However, it has been suggested by Historians that the Choctaw phrase 'Hacha hatak' or 'River People' could be the derivative.

Sioux, pronounced as 'su' or 'SOO' and speak predominantly three language dialects Lakota, Nakota and Dakota

Many descriptions of the Chippewa People have been explained over the centuries. While the Origin of the Chippewa Name is not commonly known the descriptions used reflect Chippewa skill, demeanor, creativity and diligence.
