Add Southwest Elegance to your collection! Artist Kathleen Sanchez, Native American of the San Felipe New Mexico Pueblo has expertly crafted this beautiful Necklace. Combining Beads of rich Blue- Green- Brown tones of the Turquoise with beads of delicate Hazel of the Olive Shell. This necklace is handcrafted from Stabilized Turquoise from Turquoise Mountain and can be worn by both men and women.

Olive Shell comes from the Olive Snail, Native Americans that were not located along coastline would make a trade for them. Although some Tribes strung the shells and perhaps used them as currency, Puebloans of New Mexico incorporated then in their Heishi Necklace Designs by hand cutting, drilling, rolling, and then stringing the beads.

Turquoise Mountain Turquoise is a part of the Kingman Mine in northwestern Arizona, USA. Within the Kingman Turquoise have been discovered ancient Navajo tools used to extract, polish and finish turquoise stones. The tools have been dated back to 600A.D., today approximately ninety - seven percent of the stones mined from Kingman AZ must be stabilized for jewelry making.

Turquoise Mountain Turquoise is from a different mountain on theland, however because of its color variance from the other Kingman Turquoise it is referred to as Turquoise Mountain. Turquoise Mountain's color ranges from deep blues to lighter blues with a greenish hue. Additionally it is often accompanied with a beautiful webbing that can be brown, black or other shades of Turquoise Webbing that may be lighter or darker than the base color. Turquoise from Turquoise Mountain does not have to be stabilized for jewelry making.
